and the Lost Kingdoms
In 2011 I was introduced to, the Shakespearean era travel narrative, Oroonoko by Aphra Behn. The book about an African prince sold into slavery was so moving that I began to exploring a concept which I called, “The Adventure of Oroonoko.” The first iteration of the story manifested as a rap narrated musical, this was an excellent tool to refine the idea and characters. In 2015 I reimagined my Oroonoko concept for the Grand Cinema 72 hour film festival it won best film. In 2017 - during the completion of my MFA - I re-storyboarded The Adventures of Oroonoko employing what I had learned about character designs, acting, and story to give more life to the piece.
